The Katharina UGS facility

Peißen bei Bernburg Germany, is a joint venture established on a par by Gazprom and VNG.

In 2017 Katharina will comprise seven caverns. The aggregate volume of the storage Underground Gas Storage facility will exceed 600 million cubic meters, and the daily deliverability will total 26 million cubic meters. On 19 May 2009, Gazprom export, a limited-liability company under Russian law based in Moscow, joined GAZPROM Germania GmbH, Berlin, and VNG-Verbundnetz Gas AG, Leipzig to establish a consortium for the purpose of constructing and operating an underground natural gas storage facility. The same day, project and operator company Erdgasspeicher Peissen GmbH was founded as a 50/50 joint venture between VNG-Verbundnetz Gas AG and GAZPROM Germania GmbH.
